Car Ramp Slope Calculator

Calculate ramp slope, rise, length and grade, then check your vehicle’s front, center and rear clearance.

1. Enter Your Measurements

Choose how you measured the ramp.

Horizontal run is the level distance from the ramp start to the platform.
Vertical height from the lower surface to the platform.
Level distance, not the sloped surface length.

2. Optional Vehicle Clearance

Enter only the angles you know. Blank values stay unchecked.

Rear Not checked Departure angle

Ramp geometry is calculated. Add vehicle angles for a vehicle-specific clearance check.

How the car ramp calculation works

The calculator converts your rise and one additional measurement into slope percentage, angle, ratio, horizontal run and ramp surface length. Use the horizontal run mode when you measured along level ground, and use surface length when you measured directly along the ramp.

Approach angle

Checks the front bumper, splitter or lowest front component as the vehicle starts climbing the ramp.

Breakover angle

Checks the lowest point between the axles where the vehicle transitions from the incline to a level platform.

Departure angle

Checks the rear bumper, exhaust or tow equipment when the rear of the vehicle reaches the ramp transition.

Calculate Vehicle Angles

Use one unit for every length. Measure from each tire contact point to the lowest relevant vehicle component.

Center / breakover
Rear / departure
