Common questions

Minecraft join message generator FAQ

How do I change the join message in EssentialsX?

Select EssentialsX, copy the generated custom-join-message line and place it in plugins/Essentials/config.yml. Restart or reload the plugin after saving the file.

What is the difference between server and fake join messages?

A server join message is triggered by the server when a player connects. A fake join message is a manual Java or Bedrock command that sends a matching chat announcement.

Does the player name stay dynamic?

EssentialsX and text-template outputs use {PLAYER}. Java and Bedrock command outputs use the preview name because those commands are ready for immediate execution.

Which format should I choose?

Choose EssentialsX for its config file, MiniMessage for Adventure-based plugins, Legacy for ampersand color support, and Tellraw or Rawtext for direct commands.
