How the UC transfer GPA calculation works

1. Confirm transferable courses

Mark each course as UC-transferable, not transferable, or not sure. Use ASSIST or your college transfer course agreement to confirm California Community College coursework.

2. Convert units consistently

Semester units are used directly. Quarter units are divided by 1.5 so courses from different academic calendars can be combined in one weighted calculation.

3. Multiply units by grade points

Each included letter grade is converted to UC grade points. The course points equal semester-equivalent units multiplied by the grade value.

4. Audit the final result

Total grade points are divided by total GPA units. The displayed result is truncated to two decimal places, while the target planner uses the untruncated totals.

Core formula UC Transfer GPA = Total grade points ÷ Total GPA units

A 4.5-quarter-unit B+ course becomes 3 semester-equivalent units and contributes 9.9 grade points.
